We should have expected a big announcement to coincide with SWTOR’s first anniversary, and BioWare have delivered it in spades with the announcement of the game’s first expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel.
Slated for ‘Spring 2013’ (gee I love the US-centric language), which means between March and May 2013, the expansion includes:
1. An increase in the level cap to 55
2. The long touted new planet, Makeb, makes its debut
3. More missions (as you’d expect with a level cap rise)
Subscribers can pre-order for US$9.99, which includes 5-days early access – everyone else can buy it for US$19.99.
The FAQ is already up to answer any other questions you might have.
why, oh why are paying subscribers having to give BW one red cent for this expansion?!? Adding insult to injury, plain and simple.
Hmm, see I don’t have a big issue with paying for an expansion as a subscriber, IF it’s a substantive one that really throws a whole new light on the game. Whether ROTHC does that is yet to be seen 😉
I’m glad that they’re finally gonna release chapter 4 of the class story but I’m reasonably sure that they advertised 5 chapters being in the game and it’s a little disappointing to see them charging for the additional chapters.
As I posted below, I’m ok if the story expansion is really substantive but yep see your point!
I’m in two minds about this news. It’s great to be getting an expansion, more story and another planet are things to look forward to and hopfully more end game content but I am hoping that they address the current issues without forcing you to by the expansion.
